Deagol looked before him and beheld a maiden that he had never seen before - with long carrot-colored hair and soft, brown eyes, he was sure that his heart would skip if he were still of the mortal world.
"Greetings, madam," He nodded to her, hoping that she would not fear his corpeal form, transparent as it was. "Pray I ask, how you are faring this evening?"
Well, mine crotch sort of itches, but I am sureth that’s not what you meant.

Headcanon: Deagol sometimes made Smeagol potato soup when he was sick; he learned how from Smeagol’s grandmother.
Headcanon: Deagol and Smeagol used to make sandwiches with the fish they got from the Gladdens river. Deagol’s favorite fish was Pike.
Déagol cringed at the pain in the creature’s voice and somewhere deep inside he felt a twinge of pity—but he quickly smothered it. After all, why shouldn’t his old ‘friend’ be a pathetic wreck after such an ugly betrayal? How he was even alive, Déagol was still unsure, but he could figure that out later. There were more pressing matters at the present, mainly what his cousin had done with the Ring. Sméagol had never had much of a spine when they were young hobbits and with him cowering like this, it would be easy to extract information.
“Where is It, Sméag? You killed me for It, so you MUST know - tell me!” He practically snarled, raising his disembodied voice.
The creature’s erratic mind, though it was all he had to his name, was crueler to him than anything else in this long, miserable life. At one point, it had been the only place to escape but not anymore; he was undoubtedly his own worst enemy. Needless to say, Sméagol’s mind had broken him but rather than trying to mend the pieces, it was committed to shattering them further. Soon there’d be nothing left but dust, inside and outside.
When he was certain the voice had stopped for a moment, he lowered his hands sluggishly. No sooner had he done that when ‘Déagol’ spoke up again, mentioning the precious of all things, causing him to propel forward, screaming. He buried his face into the rocky ground, clawing it until his fingertips began to bleed, red staining the pale gray surface.
Ear-piercing animal cries such that Déagol could never have expected to hear out of his cousin pierced the air — Sméagol had hurled himself onto his front and was raking his fingers to bloody nubs on the gravel of the hillside. A moment ago, Déagol had been satisfied to watch his murderer squirm as he told him the truth of what he was and he had even prepared to pin him down and make him share his knowledge of the Ring. Déagol had expected him to growl, to hiss, to attack him as he had on that day on the river - which is the reason he had kept invisible - but Sméagol hadn’t even launched a verbal assault. His cousin’s torture was self-inflicted and this disturbed Déagol; he couldn’t watch a moment longer.
"Stop it! Stop right now!" Deagol rushed forward, taking the visible shape of the young hobbit he had once been, using his thick, strong fingers to pry the bony creature from the ground, and shove him onto his back in the same stroke. "I wanted an answer, Smeag— not for you to throw a - a bloody tantrum!” He was panting hard as he straightened, but he couldn’t think of a reason for it; the effort of the act wasn’t tiring, not to a ghost.
